Technologie Kring Paper and Board - Natuurvezelapplicatiecentrum

With almost 75 participants we enjoyed the hot summer edition of the Technologie Kring, the 24 of Apeldoorn, already the eighteenth season.

We selected three partners to put in the spotlight during the opening of the Technology Market. We offered them the opportunity to give a 5-minute pitch related to their demonstration. Eric Jan Verwey of IGT Testing systems explained their IGT Amsterdam Tester. Eric Haagen of Emtec spoke enthusiastically about their online measuring device to show live measurements. And last but not least, Wolf Heilmann showed the inner sieve of the Klass Filter.

Besides 18 interesting masterclasses, at the end of the first day, a carrousel workshop was held in the form of five poster presentations on cost reduction and process optimization. This gave the paper mills an opportunity to share with one another how they are addressing these issues during this period, which might be helpful to others.

The winners of the Technologie Kring award are, with a shared first place, Danny Nielen of Zytec and Gilbert Botty of Omya. Danny Nielen demonstrated a very interesting new technology for non-contact motor drives, which can lead to significant savings in electricity consumption so that the available electricity can be used, for example, for the electrification of heating. Gilbert Botty surprised the audience with a different approach to R&D; backcasting based on future scenarios. Congratulations to both of you!

In conclusion, we can say that there were excellent presentations, interesting demonstrations, and a bustling partner market, all in a cool atmosphere—which was very welcome given the high temperatures these past few days. During the evening program, we enjoyed a delicious and casual barbecue.
Collaboration and learning from one another are central to our learning community, the paper and cardboard manufacturing industry.
